Weber's RFID-Ready program allows RFID future upgrades

Weber RFID Ready program provides labeling systems that can be upgraded to RFID encoders in the future

Arlington Heights, Ill. — Weber Marking Systems’ new RFID Ready program makes it possible for companies to obtain Weber label printers and printer-applicators that can be upgraded to include the RFID technology that they will need in the future.

RFID Ready models, which include select stand-alone printers and Weber’s Model 5200 printer-applicator, can be modified for easy upgrade to multi-protocol encoders that support EPC-compatible and other ultra-high-frequency standards. Those encoders will support protocols that are the most current at the time of conversion.

“The RFID Ready option is available to ensure companies still in the RFID discovery process that they will have the right technology to support RFID implementation as labeling requirements evolve,” said Ann Marie Phaneuf, Weber’s marketing director. “We want to protect our customers’ investments in the printers and printer-applicators they need today, while providing a migration path to the RFID technology they will need in the future.”
