Weber to provide RFID smart labels featuring RFID tags from Alien Technology Corporation Weber Marking Systems has qualified as an Alien® Qualified Label Partner and announced a strategic relationship with Alien Technology Corporation that will enable the leading labeling company to convert and supply radio frequency identification (RFID) smart labels with EPC Class 1 UHF RFID tags. Alien Technology Corporation will provide tested, programmable RFID tags that Weber will insert into its pressure-sensitive RFID smart labels during the converting process. RFID smart labels and tags are used to meet the mandates of large retailers and governmental agencies for the identification and tracking of product containers and pallet loads. The addition of the tags will enable Weber to offer its customers EPC-complaint RFID smart labels that will be compatible with a full range of EPC Class 1 RFID encoding solutions. Weber is a manufacturer and supplier of RFID desktop encoder-printers, plus in-line encoder-applicators and encoder-printer-applicators that ensure RFID smart labels are properly encoded and verified to meet specifications.
