Weber introduces the new Model 5200rfid label printer-encoder-applicator with reject station.

Weber introduces RFID smart label printer-applicator with pre-apply reject feature for carton and pallet identification

Arlington Heights, IL -- Weber Marking Systems has announced the availability of its exclusive Model 5200rfid label printer-applicator, a unit that makes it easy to print, encode, verify and apply pressure-sensitive RFID smart labels to cartons and pallet loads in one operation. In addition, the system automatically senses improperly encoded smart labels and rejects them prior to application.

The Model 5200rfid offers a selection of print-encode engines that uses thermal/thermal-transfer technology to produce smart labels with text, bar codes and graphics at 203- or 300-dpi. As a smart label is printed, the unit's integrated encoder simultaneously transfers digital information to the thin, ultra-high frequency (UHF) transponder that is embeded in the pressure-sensitive label material.

That information immediately is verified by the system, which then applies the smart label to the top or side a carton or pallet load as it moves by via conveyor. Labels up to 5x6” can be dispensed at up to 12”/second and applied using the tamp-blow method.

If the encoded data are not verifiable, the system's unique swing plate automatically is deployed to intercept the smart label prior to application. This method does not alter print engine operation, media handling or dispensing, yet collects and counts the rejected labels for subsequent disposition.

Labels are formatted using Weber’s proprietary Legitronic Print-Apply software, a PC-based package that combines label design, editing and printing with RFID encoding to create readable smart labels.
