Weber understands the needs of the chemical industry.
With its harsh conditions and constantly changing government regulations, chemical industries’ labeling operations face an enormous challenge.
Weber Marking Systems has met that challenge. For over 75 years, we’ve been providing the chemical industry with durable and reliable labeling equipment. We’ve worked with our clients to develop systems and media designed to withstand environmental factors while still being efficient and economical.
Labeling Systems for the Chemical Industry
Weber offers a diverse line of automatic preprinted label applicators and label printer-applicators. These systems offer high-speed and extremely accurate labeling and RFID encoding of items on the production line.
All of our labeling systems are anodized aluminum and stainless steel constructed, making them rugged enough to tolerate most industrial conditions.
Our pail/drum/barrel label applicator was designed especially for the chemical industry. Using the tamp-wipe method of application, this system affixes labels to straight-wall or tapered pails at a rate up to 30 labels per minute with exceptional placement accuracy. The pail/drum/barrel model is also available as a label printer-applicator, with your choice of several different printheads, all offering high-resolution, high-speed imprinting.
Weber additionally offers a variety of Legitronic® thermal/thermal-transfer printers and RFID encoders for on-demand printing of labels off-line. Labels may be printed one at a time or in a large batch for later application.
These units are available in models with 203-, 300-, or 600-dpi dpi print resolution, assuring your bar codes, text, and graphics will always be crisp and readable. We include several wider-web models, which accommodate pressure-sensitive labels and tags up to 8.8" wide at print speeds ranging from 6.0" to 16.0" per second.
Running all Weber labeling systems is our exclusive Legi® for Windows software. This 32-bit, Windows-based software package is a powerful design tool, aiding in the creation of your labels. Rather than losing money from throwing away batches of obsolete labels, you can easily alter your label design to keep pace with constantly changing government regulations, including RFID encoding.
Labels for the Chemical Industry
Weber provides a vast selection of label materials. We manufacture our own pressure-sensitive labels, offering both stock labels and custom labelswhich are specially designed to meet your exact specifications.
Our Flextuff 450 drum label material was engineered specifically for use in the chemical industry. This unique and highly durable label material is comprised of a polyethylene film facesheet with a protective resin coating. It can tolerate exposure to chemicals and solvents, extreme temperatures, and all outdoor environments without fading or disintegrating. Flextuff 450s acrylic adhesive allows the label to firmly bond to steel, fiber, and plastic drums while permitting easy, one-piece removal during reconditioning.
Flex-Pack 475 is a unique drum material that has been tested and accepted for the rigorous International Maritime Dangerous Goods certification. It is a thermal-transfer-imprintable polypropylene film with a permanent adhesive. It exhibits resistance to seawater, mild acids, bases, salts, and most petrochemicals at service temperatures from -40° F to 300°F.
Weber also supplies colorful thermal-transfer ribbons for consistent, high-quality label printing. Our PrintGuard thermal-transfer ribbons feature resin ink that is ideal for labels facing severe environments.
